Why are worm gear hose clamps popular?
Hose clamps are also known as worm drive clamps, worm gear clamps, and worm screw clamps.
Hose clamps are used to attach hoses and tubing to pipes and fittings and keep them in place. Worm drive hose clamps are popular because they are adjustable, easy to use, and don’t require any special tools to install or remove—all you need is a screwdriver, nut driver, or socket wrench to install or remove them.
You can fully open the band to attach hose clamps to hoses and tubing that have already been installed. Outside of hose applications, similar fasteners have applications.
There are different sizes, and measuring them will reveal that you will never use some because they are too large or small.
You can use the charts in our guide to determine the minimum clamp diameter and a maximum diameter of the stainless steel band you require.
By the end, you’ll see that changing a hose clamp on your car engine, or in limited spaces, is easier when using micro hose clamps or stainless steel bands that tighten with the fewest turns.
