China has completed its first space organ-on-a-chip experiment 2023-09-01
According to China News Network reported that on August 18, the manned space engineering space application and development briefing was held in Beijing, Li Yinghui, deputy chief designer of the Chinese astronaut system, said that during the Chinese space station mission, the scientific research team completed the first domestic space organ chip research, which is also the first international artificial blood vessel tissue chip research. China has become the second country in the world with the ability to carry out experiments and analysis of organ chips in orbit.

According to the report, researchers have developed astronaut health maintenance and capacity maintenance and enhancement technologies, which are efficient, non-invasive, easy to operate, wearable and other characteristics, and can also be used for public health. For example, bone loss counter instrument, wear acupoint stimulation instrument, etc., can be applied to degenerative osteoporosis, muscle atrophy and other people; Biorhythm guidance technology can be used to improve and enhance sleep quality.

Li Yinghui said that in the Chinese space station project, researchers have obtained tens of thousands of experimental data covering more than 10 categories of human cardiovascular, bone, muscle, brain function, visual function, nutritional metabolism, biological rhythm, epigenetic inheritance, traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis, behavioral ability under long-term space flight conditions, and have obtained new cognition.

Li Yinghui pointed out that in the application and development stage of China's space station, space medical experiments will further carry out research on the understanding of human beings in space, focusing on medical and human factors related scientific issues faced by long-term survival in space, and paying attention to the frontier hot spots around human health and human ability; In combination with major national scientific research programs such as the National Brain Program, basic, forward-looking and exploratory research is systematically carried out to provide theoretical support and technical reserves for the sustainable development of manned space flight, and benefit public health.
